Description

SperoMD is seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Patient Account Representative to join our team. In this role, you will manage self-pay account balances, post patient payments, and serve as the primary point of contact for patient billing inquiries. You’ll work closely with internal teams—including billing and coding—to resolve account issues and ensure timely communication and resolution for our patients. This position will be on-site at our Northbrook home office. 


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Serve as a subject matter expert in all Patient Account Representative responsibilities.
  • Supervise key account processes including accounts receivable, patient dismissals, collections transfers, refunds, and overpayment reconciliations.
  • Collaborate with practice staff to ensure the accuracy of patient account data.
  • Assign and monitor workload of Patient Account Representatives to ensure timely and accurate task completion.
  • Identify and resolve operational issues; implement procedural improvements as needed.
  • Assist in the recruitment process; lead onboarding and orientation for new hires.
  • Deliver initial and ongoing training; maintain current knowledge of industry and system updates to ensure the team is properly supported.
  • Maintain up-to-date training and reference materials for the team.
  • Reconcile daily credit card transactions for all clients and report discrepancies to the Patient Account and Credentialing Manager.
  • Perform all job functions of Patient Account Representative as outlined in the Patient Account Representatives job description
  • Provide coverage for Patient Account Representatives as needed.
  • Communicate regularly with the Patient Account and Credentialing Manager regarding operational updates and team performance.
  • Promote and model SperoMD Core Values and support team adherence through coaching and guidance.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.



Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Experience with Epic or other electronic health record (EHR) systems preferred
  • Knowledge and level of comfort with Microsoft Excel preferred
  • Google Suite experience preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and high level of organizational skills required


Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years of medical billing experience required
  • Prior lead experience preferred.
  • 3 years of related customer service experience
